Lawrence County, PA (June 12, 2026) – On Wednesday afternoon, June 10, a crash between a motorcycle and another vehicle left one dead. Pennsylvania State Police said a 60-year-old died after the crash on Wilmington Road near Mama Jane's Eatery in Lawrence County. The collision occurred shortly before 4 p.m.

Officials identified the victims as Bryan Scheidemantle, 60. Emergency units responded and transported him by ambulance to a nearby landing zone where a medical helicopter was standing by. Due to the severity of his injuries, he could not be flown and was instead taken by ambulance to UPMC Jameson Hospital in New Castle, where he was later pronounced dead.

The driver and passenger in the other vehicle were not hurt. No further details about the accident were available at the time of publication.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation.

We extend our deepest condolences to Bryan's family and everyone who knew him.

What Should Families Do After a Fatal Motorcycle Accident in Lawrence County, PA?

After losing someone in a fatal motorcycle crash in Lawrence County, the days that follow can feel overwhelming. Amid the grief, there are practical steps that can help protect a family's legal options. If possible, preserve any evidence connected to the crash; this includes photographs, the deceased's riding gear, and any communications with insurance companies. Avoid giving recorded statements to any insurer before speaking with an attorney, as early statements can affect a claim's outcome.

Families should also request copies of the official crash report from Pennsylvania State Police as soon as it becomes available. That report can contain critical details about road conditions, vehicle positions, and any preliminary findings about fault. On roads like Wilmington Road and the broader network of two-lane routes throughout Lawrence County, crash investigations can involve multiple contributing factors that are not always reflected in an initial report.

Pennsylvania's wrongful death statute allows certain surviving family members, including spouses, children, and parents, to pursue a claim for losses such as funeral expenses, lost financial support, and the loss of the person's companionship.

A separate survival action may also be available to recover damages the deceased person experienced before death, including pain and medical costs. Both claims are subject to a two-year filing deadline, making early legal consultation important. A wrongful death attorney can walk a family through both types of claims, explain what evidence is needed, and handle communications with insurers so the family can focus on grieving without added pressure.
