Chester, PA (November 28, 2024) – Two crashes on the Commodore Barry Bridge left multiple people injured on Thanksgiving, November 28.
According to the Delaware River Port Authority, a fiery two-vehicle crash injured three people around 6:20 p.m. on Thursday. Crews worked to extinguish the flames on the bridge that spans the Delaware River from Chester to Bridgeport, NJ. None of the injuries was life-threatening, authorities said, but the victims' current conditions are unknown.
Shortly after the collision, emergency crews responded to an unrelated two-vehicle crash on the bridge that involved about six people. Some people required medical attention, but the injuries did not appear to be life-threatening, the Delaware River Port Authority confirmed. That said, the causes of both crashes remain under investigation.
Our thoughts go out to the injured victims and their families. We hope for their full recovery at this time.
Our state witnesses thousands of vehicle accidents annually, resulting in serious injuries or fatalities for many drivers. When traveling on the multi-lane freeways and highly frequented interstates that cover our state, Pennsylvanians may be particularly worried about the hazards and risks of these serious accidents, just like residents of many other states. This is especially true on highways with higher speeds and a ton of traffic. As a result of the extensive network of highways and interstates that Pennsylvania has, it is unsurprising that our state experiences a significant amount of fatal and injury-causing collisions.
Moreover, accidents involving multiple drivers are even more likely to be catastrophic and even deadly. For example, in one recent year alone, 166,000 of these accidents occurred throughout the United States, around 4,700 of which resulted in deaths.
For these reasons and more, following a vehicle accident caused by another party's negligence, victims can and should take legal action with the help of a skilled attorney.
