Miller Township, PA (December 23, 2025) – Pennsylvania State Police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run after the body of a 40-year-old woman was found late on December 22 along Narrows Road in Miller Township, Perry County.
Troopers were dispatched to the scene around 9:11 p.m. after receiving a call about a person lying on the shoulder of the road. Upon arrival, they located the deceased woman, who investigators later determined had been struck by a vehicle that fled the scene.
The vehicle involved has not yet been identified. However, officials believe it is possibly silver or gray in color and may have front-end damage, including damage to the grille, bumper, or body panels. Authorities are currently working to identify the woman and notify her next of kin.
Anyone with information about the incident or surveillance footage from the area is urged to contact PSP Newport at 717-567-3110. This tragic incident remains under active investigation.
Our heartfelt sympathies go out to the victim’s family and all those affected by this loss.
Fatal hit-and-run accidents are among the most painful tragedies a family or community can experience. In rural areas like Miller Township, roadways are often poorly lit and see less traffic, increasing the chances that a pedestrian involved in a crash may go unnoticed for some time. These factors make it all the more critical for drivers to remain vigilant and stop immediately if they are involved in a collision.
When a person is killed and the driver flees the scene, loved ones are left with unanswered questions, emotional trauma, and often financial hardship. While law enforcement conducts a criminal investigation to locate the driver, families can also explore civil legal options.
Even if the person responsible has not yet been found, a qualified wrongful death attorney may be able to pursue compensation through the victim’s uninsured motorist coverage or other applicable sources.
In a wrongful death case, damages can include funeral and burial costs, loss of financial support, emotional suffering, and the loss of companionship. Legal professionals can assist in gathering critical evidence—such as surveillance footage, vehicle debris, and witness accounts—to help identify the vehicle and support any claims filed. Starting this process promptly can improve the chances of justice and closure for the grieving family.
In emotionally overwhelming situations like these, having legal guidance can relieve some of the pressure on families. It ensures that their rights are protected and that the responsible party—if identified—is held fully accountable.
