Kittanning, PA (January 8, 2023) – A man was killed and had been identified following a truck accident that took place in Kittanning on Sunday morning, January 8.
According to Indiana County officials, the accident happened around 12:58 a.m. at the intersection of US-422 and Red Mill Road. Police confirmed that a man was driving west in his Subaru WRX and making a left turn at the intersection. While doing so, he was struck in the rear by a pickup truck due to reasons that are not entirely known. His Subaru struck a row of rocks and then slammed into a utility pole.
Paramedics and several other local responders were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The driver of the Subaru, who was identified as 25-year-old Hunter McCloskey, was ejected from his vehicle. He was severely injured and was tragically pronounced dead at the scene. It is not known if anyone else was hurt in the accident.
Due to the severity of the collision, a large portion of the road was blocked in the area. This led to delays until the scene was cleared.
The investigation into the circumstances leading up to the collision continues.
We would like to offer our warmest condolences to the family and friends of the victim who lost his life in this accident.
