Horton Township, PA (November 23, 2024) – Philadelphia State Police (PSP) troopers said the Clearfield County Coroner was sent to a two-vehicle crash late Friday morning.
Per dispatchers, a coal truck crashed into a Buick on Hoovertown Road and Fire Tower Road. A person became trapped in the crash, and one occupant was seriously injured. Horton Township Fire Department responded to the scene. The department announced on Facebook that Route 153 was closed from Route 219 to 255 due to “a major accident.” Route 153 has since reopened to traffic, according to PennDOT.
In the meantime, the events leading up to the collision remain unclear. Troopers with the PSP are investigating but have asked any witnesses to come forward as soon as possible.
We extend our deepest condolences to the deceased victim's loved ones. Our thoughts go out to the injured victims and their families. We hope for their full recovery at this challenging time.
In one recent year, Pennsylvania recorded nearly 1,130 fatalities from auto accidents, the second-lowest number of traffic fatalities since PennDOT began keeping track of such data. Nevertheless, these deadly accidents still occur all too frequently, and justice remains owed to the families of these victims.
To be awarded compensation in a wrongful death case arising from a fatal auto accident, the plaintiff must establish that the negligent party was responsible.
