Grove City, PA (November 27, 2025) — A woman was struck and killed by a vehicle near the Grove City Outlets on November 26. Officials confirmed that 68-year-old Melissa Biddle of Grove City lost her life after a pickup truck hit her shortly after 3 p.m. The deadly crash occurred on Amsterdam Road, close to the busy retail district.
According to investigators, the pickup truck was turning near Center Church Road when it struck Melissa as she walked in the area. Emergency responders reached the scene within minutes, but they could not save her. She died from her injuries before she could be transported to a medical facility. The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with officers. Police have not announced any charges, and the investigation remains active.
Grove City Police have not released additional details about the cause of the collision.
We extend our deepest condolences to Melissa’s family and friends during this difficult time.
Pedestrian deaths remain a serious concern across Pennsylvania, and many occur on busy commercial corridors like the area surrounding the Grove City Outlets. These locations see heavy traffic throughout the day, and drivers often face complex conditions that require quick decisions. Even a small lapse in attention can place a pedestrian in danger. Because walkers have no protection, the impact from even a slow-moving vehicle can cause catastrophic injuries or death.
Pennsylvania roads also create unique challenges for both drivers and pedestrians. Many routes transition quickly from rural settings to commercial zones. Drivers may adjust their speed too slowly as they approach areas with higher pedestrian activity. This shift increases risk because a driver may fail to see someone crossing a side road or walking along a shoulder.
Road design also influences pedestrian safety. Some intersections lack marked crosswalks or adequate lighting. Others include wide turning lanes that encourage vehicles to move quickly through turns. If a driver assumes the road is clear without scanning for pedestrians, a collision can occur in seconds. The area near the Grove City Outlets sees heavy seasonal traffic, which increases the chance of turning crashes involving both vehicles and pedestrians.
Pedestrians also face danger from vehicles making left or right turns. Drivers often focus on oncoming traffic instead of checking for people entering the intersection. This oversight can cause a turning driver to strike a pedestrian who has the right of way. These collisions frequently occur at low to moderate speeds, yet they often produce severe injuries due to the force of impact.
When a pedestrian suffers injuries or loses their life in a crash, the consequences extend far beyond the initial incident. Families may face medical bills, funeral costs, lost income, and emotional trauma. These burdens can overwhelm families who never expected such a sudden tragedy. A personal injury or wrongful death claim may help them recover financial compensation and gain clarity about what happened.
Insurance companies often challenge these claims, even when a pedestrian appears to have acted safely. They may dispute fault, minimize injuries, or delay the process. Skilled legal guidance helps families protect their rights and pursue fair compensation during a painful and uncertain time.
