East Lackawannock Twp., PA (November 4, 2023) – A man from Rochester, New York, lost his life as a result of a fatal accident that took place in East Lackawannock Township on Wednesday morning.
Authorities across Mercer County were called to the scene of the crash at approximately 5:45 a.m. on November 1.
According to official reports, a tractor-trailer and multiple passenger vehicles collided on Interstate 80 during the early morning hours. The crash, which involved between eight and ten vehicles, blocked multiple lanes of the road.
Six people sustained injuries as a result of the crash. Medics were called to care for victims at the scene and transport those who required further medical care to area hospitals.
One additional victim, identified as 34-year-old Anthony Mallory, sustained fatal injuries. He was pronounced dead by authorities while at the scene.
The incident prompted authorities to shut down the roadway for several hours.
At this time, the incident is being investigated.
