Cumberland County, PA (September 19, 2023) – A fatal car crash reported in Cumberland County on Sunday evening claimed one person’s life.
The accident occurred at around 9:00 p.m. on September 17.
Reports from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s Safety Press Officer Fritzi Schreffler indicate that two passenger vehicles were involved in a collision on the eastbound side of Pennsylvania Route 581. The incident blocked the roadway near the on-ramp from Route 15 at Exit 5.
A tow truck responded to the scene and began to provide assistance with removing the damaged vehicles. For unknown reasons, a third vehicle crashed into the back of the tow truck.
One person involved in the accident was fatally injured. The victim, identified as a 28-year-old male, was pronounced deceased on-site.
Multiple other victims suffered injuries as a result of the crash.
Investigations into the accident are underway.
