Butler, PA (March 21, 2025) – A Connecticut man is dead after a fatal hit and run took place on Interstate 80 on March 21.
According to Butler County officials, police reports state that a 53-year-old man from Hartford, Connecticut, was killed after a fatal hit-and-run crash occurred near mile marker 257 at around 2:30 p.m.
Per the PennDOT, the closure was in the eastbound lanes between Exit 256: PA 93 – Nescopeck/Conyngham and Exit 260A: I-81 South – Harrisburg, but has since been reopened. Troopers say that the man was outside his disabled commercial vehicle when he was struck by an incoming commercial vehicle.
The release states that the man succumbed after being Life Flighted to Geisinger Wyoming Valley. The name of the victim is being withheld pending the notification of the next of kin. No further details have been released at this time. Police continue their investigation into the circumstances of the collision.
