Buffalo Twp, PA (May 7, 2026) – A driver was killed on Thursday, May 7, in a head-on crash on Interstate 70 westbound in Buffalo Township. The accident happened at approximately 1:22 p.m. near mile marker 10.5.

The crash shut down roughly five miles of the highway for about three hours. Officials reported that a Ford Focus traveling eastbound crossed the grass median and collided head-on with a westbound tractor-trailer. The driver of the Ford Focus was pronounced dead at the scene.

The tractor-trailer driver suffered non-life-threatening injuries and received treatment. No other vehicles were reported involved in the crash.

The collision forced the closure of I-70 westbound between Exit 11 near Taylorstown and Exit 6 near Claysville. Drivers were rerouted along Route 40 during the closure, which added to travel times in the area.
