Upper Macungie Township, PA (February 20, 2026) – On Thursday night, February 19, around 6:15 p.m., a serious crash left a 27-year-old man dead just north of Mohr Lane and Beechwood Street near the Lowhill Township line.
Police report that a pickup truck traveling south on Route 100 crossed into the northbound lane and collided with a Honda Civic. The drivers of both vehicles were taken to local hospitals, and one of them was pronounced dead.
Route 100 was closed for accident reconstruction and investigation until 11:15 p.m., when it reopened. Authorities are asking anyone who may have witnessed the collision to contact the Upper Macungie Township Police Department.
Our heartfelt condolences go to the family members during this difficult time, and to the other injured driver as they recover.
Experiencing the loss of a loved one in a traffic accident is devastating, and families often face many urgent decisions. The first step is to ensure that you have access to reliable information about the incident. Stay in contact with the investigating authorities, such as the Upper Macungie Township Police Department, to receive updates and official reports. Families should also request copies of the accident report, medical records, and any relevant documentation from local hospitals, medical examiners, or coroner’s offices regarding the circumstances of the death. Proper records are essential for insurance claims, life insurance benefits, and any potential legal action.
It is highly recommended that families consider counseling or support groups to help process grief and trauma. Local community resources, faith organizations, and advocacy groups in Lehigh County can provide emotional support and assistance with practical matters such as funeral arrangements, paperwork, and connecting with grief counselors. Reaching out to friends, neighbors, and social networks can also provide invaluable day-to-day support.
In addition, consulting a trusted wrongful death attorney can be pivotal. Legal professionals can help families understand their rights, navigate insurance claims, and explore potential compensation for funeral expenses, loss of income, or emotional suffering. Acting promptly ensures that all necessary deadlines are met and that families receive the support and guidance they need during this difficult time. Families may also need to coordinate with insurance companies, employers, or government agencies, which can be complex without professional guidance.
Taking these steps can help families focus on healing while ensuring that the necessary legal and administrative processes are properly handled, giving them a clearer path through an otherwise overwhelming experience.
