Lancaster, PA (September 1, 2025) – A multi-vehicle crash that occurred Saturday has been confirmed as fatal, according to Pennsylvania State Police in Lancaster on Monday, September 1.
Troopers stated that on Saturday evening at about 11:15 p.m., a vehicle crossed over the center line and was struck by another motorist in the 2400 block of Robert Fulton Highway in Fulton Township, Lancaster County. At least one person was killed in the collision, and the Lancaster County Coroner’s Office later identified the victim as 32-year-old Austin Wade Owens.
EMTs also responded to the site of the incident, though it's unclear how many people sustained injuries. In the meantime, no further details have been released; however, an investigation is ongoing, and police have asked anyone who witnessed the crash to contact the PSP in Lancaster.
We extend our deepest condolences to the deceased victim's loved ones. Our thoughts are also with any injured victims and their loved ones in hopes of their full recovery.
A fatal accident is one of the most devastating tragedies a family can face. Sadly, Pennsylvania sees far too many of these heartbreaking incidents every year, with more than 1,100 traffic fatalities reported annually. Among the most catastrophic types of crashes are head-on collisions, which often leave victims with fatal injuries due to the extreme force of impact.
Head-on crashes in Pennsylvania frequently stem from acts of negligence such as distracted driving, reckless passing, driving under the influence, or failing to obey traffic laws. When a vehicle veers across the centerline into oncoming traffic, the consequences are almost always catastrophic. Victims rarely have time to react before the collision occurs, leading to devastating injuries or loss of life.
In addition to head-on collisions, other negligent driving behaviors — such as failing to yield to pedestrians, running red lights, or ignoring roadway hazards — continue to contribute to fatal crashes across the state. Distractions behind the wheel, like texting, eating, or even conversing with passengers, remain leading causes of deadly wrecks.
If your loved one lost their life in a Pennsylvania head-on collision caused by a careless or reckless driver, your family may have legal options to pursue accountability and financial recovery. Taking action through a wrongful death claim can help secure compensation for medical costs, funeral expenses, and the profound emotional loss you’ve endured.
