Salisbury Township, PA (October 8, 2025) – A bicyclist suffered multiple injuries following a hit-and-run crash early Wednesday morning in Lancaster County. The incident occurred just before 7 a.m. in the 5000 block of Lincoln Highway near Salisbury Township, prompting an ongoing investigation by the Pennsylvania State Police (PSP).
According to officials, the bicyclist was traveling west along the westbound shoulder of Lincoln Hwy when a white SUV, also heading west, struck them from behind. The impact threw the cyclist off the bike, and the driver of the SUV fled the scene immediately without stopping to provide assistance or contact authorities.
Emergency medical personnel arrived shortly after the collision and provided immediate care to the injured bicyclist. The victim was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of a suspected broken arm and other non-life-threatening injuries. The name of the bicyclist has not yet been released.
State police are actively investigating the incident and working to identify the driver of the SUV involved. As of Wednesday afternoon, no arrests have been made, and officials have not released further details regarding potential suspects or vehicle information. The crash temporarily slowed traffic in the area while police conducted their on-scene investigation.
We wish the victim and everyone involved a speedy recovery.
Hit and run collisions, such as this one in Salisbury Township, are among the most dangerous and distressing types of traffic accidents. When a driver leaves the scene without rendering aid, the injured party is left vulnerable, often delaying medical attention and complicating investigations.
According to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT), hundreds of hit-and-run accidents occur annually across the state, many resulting in serious injuries or fatalities. In most cases, these crashes are caused by negligent behaviors such as distracted driving, speeding, or impaired driving.
Cyclists are particularly at risk in such incidents due to their lack of physical protection. Even a low-speed impact can lead to severe trauma, including fractures, head injuries, and long-term mobility issues. Roads like Lincoln Hwy, where traffic moves at higher speeds and may have limited shoulders, can be especially dangerous for cyclists sharing the roadway with larger vehicles.
Victims of hit-and-run crashes often face significant physical, emotional, and financial burdens. In these cases, pursuing compensation through insurance claims or civil litigation can help cover medical costs, rehabilitation expenses, and lost wages.
