Northern Cambria, PA (April 21, 2026) — Two people are recovering in the hospital after a pickup truck collided with their motorcycle on Friday, April 18, near the border of Northern Cambria and Barr Township. The accident occurred shortly before 8:30 p.m. on Nicktown Hill Road.
According to neighbors who witnessed the aftermath, a pickup truck reportedly rounded a curve at a high rate of speed before striking the couple on the motorcycle. Emergency responders arrived quickly to stabilize both riders, who were then transported to a regional trauma center for treatment.
While the exact severity of their injuries has not been confirmed, the impact caused significant damage to the motorcycle.
State police are currently investigating the crash.
We extend our thoughts to the injured riders as they receive care and begin their recovery.
Commercial truck accidents are a serious and persistent problem across Pennsylvania. According to PennDOT, there were approximately 7,522 tractor-trailer collisions in Pennsylvania in 2022 alone, and the most recent state data recorded 7,186 heavy truck crashes in a single year, resulting in 21 fatalities.
Cambria County is no exception to this trend. Major corridors like Route 422 through Northern Cambria and Route 219 running through the heart of Cambria County see consistent heavy truck traffic, and with that comes real risk for everyday drivers and pedestrians.
Pennsylvania follows a choice no-fault insurance system, meaning injured victims can pursue compensation through their own insurance or, in serious injury cases, file a liability claim directly against the at-fault driver or trucking company.
Serious injuries (those involving significant impairment, disfigurement, or death) meet the threshold to step outside no-fault and pursue full compensation.
Truck accident claims are more complex than standard car crashes. Federal trucking regulations, driver logbooks, vehicle maintenance records, and commercial carrier insurance policies all come into play. Evidence disappears quickly, and trucking companies have legal teams responding to accidents immediately.
Pennsylvania also has a two-year statute of limitations for personal injury claims, so time matters. The moments after a truck accident are overwhelming, but knowing that you have legal options, and that you don't have to navigate them alone, is the first step toward protecting yourself.
After you or someone you love was injured in a truck accident in Northern Cambria or anywhere in Pennsylvania, a consultation with a truck accident attorney can help you understand exactly what your case may be worth.
