Manheim Twp, PA - US Rte 222 Site of Injury Car Accident at PA Hwys 272 & 772

Manheim Township, PA (December 13, 2024) – According to PennDOT officials, U.S. Route 222 has reopened following an earlier crash that shut down traffic in Manheim Township on Friday.

It happened Friday afternoon on the southbound side of the highway. According to Lancaster County dispatchers, three vehicles were involved in the crash between the exits to PA Highway 272 and PA Highway 772.

The Manheim Township Police Department says two people were taken to a nearby hospital. Southbound travelers were diverted at the Brownstown exit and were advised to seek alternate routes. Southbound traffic backed up to the Farmersville Road overpass. In the meantime, the events leading up to the collision remain unclear. Troopers with the Philadelphia State Police are investigating in the interim but have asked any witnesses to come forward as soon as possible.
