Crashes on highways like the Pennsylvania Turnpike can result in serious injuries due to high speeds, dense traffic, and limited reaction time. Interchanges—such as the one in Irwin—are particularly dangerous because of merging traffic, sudden lane changes, and drivers entering or exiting the highway. When two vehicles, such as an SUV and a pickup truck, collide at highway speeds, the damage can be severe and injuries often significant.
Victims of highway crashes may suffer a range of injuries, including broken bones, head trauma, back and neck injuries, and internal damage. Many of these injuries require emergency care, surgery, physical therapy, or long-term rehabilitation. The recovery process can be difficult and lengthy, often forcing victims to take time off work or deal with chronic pain. These physical challenges are frequently accompanied by emotional distress and financial hardship.
