Altoona, PA – Injuries Reported in Truck Crash at 6th Ave & California Ave
Altoona, PA (August 19, 2022) – One person sustained injuries in a truck accident that took place at an intersection in Altoona on Friday morning, August 19.
According to Allegheny Township Police, the accident happened around 9:22 a.m. at the intersection of 6th Avenue and California Avenue. A 44-year-old woman was driving her Hyundai Sonata in the area when her vehicle was struck by a tractor-trailer due to reasons that are not entirely known. The Sonata was severely damaged in the accident.
Several local responders, including Altoona fire crews and paramedics, were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The 44-year-old woman was seriously injured in the crash and was rushed to UPMC Altoona for treatment. The driver of the truck remained at the scene and was not hurt in the crash.
Due to the severity of the accident, 6th Avenue was completely blocked for some time. Police rerouted traffic onto California Avenue but the scene was fully cleared by 12 p.m.
