Avalon, PA (July 25, 2026) – One person died and two others, including a 4-year-old child, were injured after a two-vehicle crash on Ohio River Boulevard in Avalon on Friday afternoon, July 24.

Officials said one vehicle had a male driver, while the other had a woman and a 4-year-old child inside. All three people were transported to area hospitals for treatment.

The Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office later identified the man as Paul Joseph Czambel, 71, of Oakdale, who died at the hospital. Authorities said the woman and child were listed in stable condition.

The circumstances surrounding the crash remain under investigation.

Our thoughts are with everyone affected by this tragic accident.

What Should Families Know About Insurance After a Fatal Crash in Avalon, PA?

After a fatal crash in Pennsylvania, families may need to address insurance matters, medical expenses, property damage, and other losses connected to the collision.

Families should gather available documents and keep records of related costs, which may help when insurance providers review a claim and determine what coverage may apply. Taking these steps early can also help preserve important information while the investigation is still ongoing.

As insurance claims are reviewed, companies may evaluate several sources of information, including crash reports, vehicle damage assessments, medical records, witness statements, photographs, and other available evidence.

Together, these details may help establish the circumstances of the collision, clarify how the crash occurred, and document the losses connected to the incident. In some cases, additional documentation may be requested before a claim decision is made.

Beyond the investigation itself, fatal crashes can create significant financial challenges for surviving family members and injured individuals. Expenses may include emergency medical care, hospital treatment, vehicle repairs, funeral costs, burial expenses, lost household income, and other accident-related losses.

Copies of bills, receipts, insurance correspondence, employment records, and other financial documents may help create a clearer record throughout the claims process while making it easier to respond to requests from insurers.

Because serious collisions often involve questions about liability, insurance coverage, and the extent of the damages, reviewing all available information can become an important part of evaluating a claim.

Multiple insurance policies or parties may be involved, and each source of evidence can contribute to a more complete understanding of the accident and its consequences.

A Pennsylvania wrongful death lawyer can review the circumstances of a Pennsylvania crash, explain how insurance matters may apply, and discuss possible legal options based on the available facts.

Legal guidance may also assist with reviewing documentation, communicating with insurance providers, identifying additional records that may support a claim, and evaluating whether further steps may be appropriate based on the circumstances of the case.
