Saturday Night Crash Forces Monday Rte 22 Closure in Hanover Twp, PA

Calendar today
June 1, 2026

Hanover Township, PA (June 1, 2026)A section of Route 22 reopened on Monday morning, June 1, after state police temporarily diverted traffic to conduct a follow-up investigation into a serious crash that occurred over the weekend. Westbound drivers were redirected for about 30 minutes beginning around 10:30 a.m. while investigators worked at the scene.

The investigation is related to a four-vehicle crash that happened Saturday night, May 30, in the westbound lanes of the highway. Several people were taken to area hospitals following the collision.

The state police needed the temporary closure so crash reconstruction teams could safely examine the scene and gather additional evidence about how the accident occurred.

Authorities have not released the names of those involved or provided updates on their conditions.

The crash remains under investigation.

We hope everyone affected continues to recover.

How Do Reconstruction Closures Impact a Personal Injury Claim in Hanover Township, PA?

A crash reconstruction investigation can play an important role in a personal injury claim because it helps establish exactly how a collision occurred and who may be responsible. In Pennsylvania, recovering compensation after a serious crash generally requires showing that another party's negligence contributed to the accident.

When investigators temporarily close a roadway to conduct a reconstruction, they collect detailed evidence such as skid marks, vehicle positions, impact points, debris patterns, and other physical clues. The findings from this work can provide valuable insight into the sequence of events and may become an important piece of evidence in any insurance claim or legal action that follows.

Multi-vehicle crashes are among the most complicated accidents to investigate because several drivers, vehicles, and insurance companies may be involved. Each party may have a different account of what happened, and insurance carriers frequently dispute fault when multiple impacts occur.

A thorough reconstruction can help clarify these issues by creating a more complete picture of the collision and identifying the factors that contributed to it. This information can be especially important when determining how liability should be divided among those involved.

Crashes that involve several vehicles can also result in significant injuries. High-speed impacts often lead to conditions such as fractures, head injuries, spinal trauma, internal injuries, and other medical complications that require extensive treatment. In many cases, injured individuals face emergency medical care, follow-up appointments, rehabilitation, and time away from work. As medical expenses and lost income begin to accumulate, the financial impact of the crash can quickly become overwhelming for both victims and their families.

Because of these challenges, preserving evidence and obtaining investigative records as early as possible can be critical. Police reports, reconstruction findings, photographs, witness statements, and vehicle data may all help support a claim.

An attorney can assist by gathering and reviewing this evidence, communicating with insurance companies, and helping injured individuals understand their legal options. With a clear understanding of how the crash occurred and the losses involved, victims may be better positioned to pursue compensation for both their current expenses and their long-term needs.
