Cumberland Co., PA – Four Seriously Injured in Truck Crash on PA Turnpike EB Near MM 219

Cumberland County, PA (April 17, 2026) – A serious crash on the Pennsylvania Turnpike left four people injured and caused major disruptions along the roadway. The accident occurred on Friday, April 17, near mile marker 219.3 on the eastbound side of the highway.

Pennsylvania State Police reported that a passenger vehicle struck a parked tractor-trailer along the turnpike. The impact caused severe damage to the passenger car and left occupants trapped inside.

Emergency units responded to the scene and worked to free those inside the vehicle. Crews used specialized equipment to assist the trapped victims and provide immediate medical care.

Officials confirmed that four people suffered serious injuries in the crash. Two of the victims required air transport and were flown from the scene to nearby hospitals for further treatment.

The crash led to the closure of multiple eastbound lanes between Breezewood Exit 161 and Carlisle Exit 226. Westbound lanes reopened after the medical helicopter cleared the area.

Investigators have not released additional details about what led to the collision. Authorities continue to investigate the crash.
