Morrisville, PA (September 24, 2025) – A Bucks County woman died Tuesday afternoon following a wrong-way collision on U.S. Route 1 near the Trenton Morrisville Bridge.
According to the Pennsylvania State Police, the crash occurred shortly after 1 p.m. near the Pennsylvania Ave interchange. Troopers reported that an 81-year-old woman from Yardley was traveling north in the southbound lanes of U.S. Route 1 in a 2024 Toyota GR86.
Her vehicle struck a tractor-trailer that was heading south. Emergency responders arrived at the scene and transported the tractor-trailer driver to Jefferson Bucks Hospital for treatment of injuries. The Yardley woman was taken to Capital Health Regional Medical Center in Trenton, New Jersey, where she was later pronounced dead.
State Police from the Trevose Barracks are leading the investigation and continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the deadly wrong-way crash.
Our thoughts are with those affected by this accident.
Wrong-way accidents are among the most dangerous types of collisions on Pennsylvania roadways. These crashes often occur at high speeds and can lead to devastating outcomes, as seen in this tragic Morrisville case. Unlike many other types of car accidents, wrong-way collisions almost always result in head-on impacts, which carry a high risk of severe injuries and fatalities.
In Pennsylvania, wrong-way crashes are often linked to driver confusion, impairment, or medical emergencies. Older drivers are particularly at risk, as age-related challenges such as reduced vision, slower reflexes, and health conditions can contribute to these mistakes. While such accidents represent a small percentage of overall crashes, they account for a disproportionately high number of serious injuries and deaths.
Victims of wrong-way accidents may suffer catastrophic injuries, including broken bones, traumatic brain injuries, and internal organ damage. For families who lose loved ones in such tragedies, the emotional and financial impact can be overwhelming. Funeral costs, loss of income, and emotional suffering are only some of the hardships they must face.
When a fatal crash occurs, families often find themselves dealing with sudden grief alongside unexpected financial burdens. Consulting our experienced wrongful death attorney can help families understand their rights and explore available legal options. Our skilled lawyer can review police reports, gather evidence, and pursue compensation to ease the financial strain caused by the accident.
Compensation in wrongful death cases may include funeral and burial expenses, loss of financial support, and damages for emotional suffering. For injured survivors, legal action may also provide coverage for medical treatment, rehabilitation, and lost wages. While no legal remedy can erase the pain of losing a loved one, pursuing justice can help families move forward and hold negligent parties accountable.
