Philadelphia, PA (December 19, 2025) – A woman was struck and killed on December 19 in a hit-and-run crash in the Feltonville neighborhood of Philadelphia, according to local authorities.
The deadly collision occurred around 9:00 p.m. at the intersection of Whitaker Avenue and Wyoming Avenue. Police say the woman was hit by a vehicle whose driver fled the scene without stopping.
Emergency responders transported the victim to a nearby hospital, where she was later pronounced dead. Her identity has not yet been released pending notification of her family.
The Philadelphia Police Department has not provided a description of the vehicle involved. Investigators continue to search for the driver and are urging anyone with information to contact them.
We extend our sincere condolences to the family of the deceased victim.
Hit-and-run accidents, especially those involving pedestrians, are among the most devastating and heartbreaking types of crashes. In densely populated city neighborhoods like Feltonville, pedestrian activity is high, and the presence of fast-moving vehicles increases the risk of serious incidents. When a driver strikes a pedestrian and leaves the scene without stopping, they not only break the law but also deny the victim the immediate medical assistance that could potentially save their life.
In fatal pedestrian collisions, the emotional toll on families is often compounded by financial hardship. Surviving loved ones are frequently left with sudden funeral costs, medical expenses, and the loss of emotional and financial support the victim once provided. These consequences can create long-lasting effects on the family’s stability and well-being.
Even when the driver responsible has not yet been located, families still have legal options. With the help of an experienced wrongful death lawyer in Philadelphia, it may be possible to file a wrongful death claim. In some situations, compensation may be available through the victim’s uninsured motorist policy or other sources of recovery.
Legal representation can also play a critical role in the investigation itself. Attorneys often work alongside law enforcement to review surveillance footage, obtain witness statements, and uncover leads that might identify the hit-and-run driver. Time is of the essence in these cases. Prompt legal action helps preserve crucial evidence and ensures that the case remains a priority.
