York, PA – Three Injured in Serious Car Accident on I-83LawPaWriter
York, PA (January 2, 2021) – Around 6:55 a.m. on Saturday morning, January 2, a car accident with injuries took place in York.
According to the Pennsylvania State Police, the accident occurred in the southbound lanes of I-83. A 32-year-old woman from Millersburg was traveling south with an 18-year-old male passenger when her vehicle went off the side of the road for reasons that are not yet known. Her vehicle collided with a tree, which was when her Jeep Grand Cherokee overturned off the side of the road. The Jeep then continued onward and rammed a median, which is when it was struck by a Honda Civic.
The accident was so forceful that the 32-year-old woman was ejected from her Jeep. The driver of the Honda Civic was identified as a 47-year-old New Cumberland woman. The two women, as well as the male passenger in the Jeep, were all injured and transported to York Hospital. The injuries in the 32-year-old woman are suspected to be severe in nature.
Due to the severity of the accident, the southbound lanes of traffic were closed for approximately two hours while police cleared the scene.
The investigation into the circumstances of the collision continues.
