Wayne Twp, PA – April Bowman Injured in Dump Truck Crash on PA-153
Wayne Township, PA (August 31, 2022) – One person sustained injuries in a dump truck accident on a major roadway in Wayne Township on Tuesday evening, August 30.
Pennsylvania State Police officials confirmed that the accident happened around 5:15 p.m. on PA-183 around the area of Reedsville Road. Police confirmed that 43-year-old Thomas Bowers Sr. was traveling south in an empty dump truck when he lost control of his vehicle. It is believed that he lost control when a vehicle started to slow down in front of him. He crossed over into the other lane of traffic and struck a Chevrolet Equinox that was being operated by 38-year-old April Bowman. This caused her vehicle to leave the roadway and travel down an embankment.
Several local responders, including paramedics and fire crews, were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. Bowman was the only person who sustained injuries as a result of the accident. She was rushed to the hospital by EMS but is expected to be okay.
The roadway was blocked in the area due to debris and both vehicles needed to be towed from the scene. Bowers was cited for driving too fast for weather conditions.
No further details have been released but the investigation into the accident continues.
Our thoughts go out to the party who sustained injuries in this crash.
