Upper Milford Township, PA (August 14, 2023) – A man was killed in a fatal car accident that happened on a highway in Upper Milford Township on Sunday, August 13.
According to Philadelphia officials, the accident happened around 2 a.m. on the Pennsylvania Turnpike around mile marker 40.9. Police confirmed that 47-year-old Chad Condon was driving in the area when he suddenly collided with a concrete barrier and then did a tailspin across all lanes of traffic. The vehicle struck a guardrail and came to a stop. From there, a vehicle that was traveling in the area struck the side of the vehicle, and both came to rest for a second time. The vehicles both sustained severe damage.
Paramedics, fire crews, and several other responders were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. Condon was tragically pronounced dead at the scene two hours after the collision. The driver of the second vehicle, who has not yet been identified, was rushed to a nearby hospital with injuries but is expected to be okay.
The roadway was blocked in several lanes as police worked to clear the scene.
Pennsylvania State Police continue their investigation into the circumstances leading up to the accident. They will update with any new information as it becomes available.
