Sutersville, PA (March 24, 2022) – On Wednesday morning, March 23, a woman was killed in a fatal train crash that took place in Sutersville.
According to State Police, the accident happened on the railroad tracks at the intersection of 4th Street and 4th Avenue. A train was traveling west in the area when it went through the intersection. The train operator did not see that a passenger vehicle was passing over the tracks in the area and the two collided.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were immediately dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The driver of the passenger vehicle, identified as 76-year-old Mary Keegan, was tragically pronounced dead at the scene due to traumatic injuries.
The area was blocked at the intersection for an extended period of time. Police quickly worked to clear the scene.
No further details have been released. The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues.
