Stevens, PA – Two Killed in Fatal Box Truck Accident on PA-222

Stevens, PA (September 27, 2022) – Two people were tragically killed in a fatal box truck accident on a highway in Stevens on Tuesday afternoon, September 27.

Police in East Cocalico Township confirmed that the accident happened in the afternoon hours on PA-222 around the exit for PA-322. Due to reasons that are not fully known, a passenger vehicle and a box truck collided with one another. The involved vehicles were badly damaged as a result of the accident.

Paramedics, fire crews, and several other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. A total of two passengers inside the sedan were ejected from the force of the accident. One was tragically pronounced dead at the scene and the other unidentified victim was hospitalized at Lancaster General Hospital for traumatic injuries. Unfortunately, she was pronounced dead while at the hospital. A third victim was taken to the same hospital and is expected to be okay.

Due to the severity of the accident, the roadway was blocked in the area for an extended period of time.

No further details have been released but the investigation into the collision continues. Police will update with more information as it is available.
