St. Clair, PA – Kara Leo Killed, Husband Injured by Falling Branch at Boyce Mayview Park

St. Clair, PA (June 20, 2021) – On Thursday evening, June 17, a falling tree branch killed a woman and seriously injured her husband as they were hiking in Upper St. Clair’s Boyce Mayview Park.

Officials said that the South Fayette couple were walking along the Morton Ravine Trail when a falling branch hit them. EMS rushed the woman to an area medical center in critical condition but she died early Friday. Her husband sustained serious injuries and is still hospitalized, though an update on his current condition was not provided.

The victim has since been identified as 40-year-old Kara A. Leo, a pastry chef and the owner of Kara Kakes in Mt. Lebanon.

The accident remains under investigation, and officers are working with park officials to look into the incident.
