Snyder Twp, PA – Man Killed in Pedestrian Crash Involving Truck on I-99
Snyder Township, PA (October 25, 2022) – On Tuesday morning, October 25, a pedestrian accident led to a fatality in Snyder Township.
According to Pennsylvania State Police, the accident happened in the early morning hours in the northbound lanes of I-99 around the area of mile marker 55.1. A 72-year-old man from Altoona was allegedly on the road, possibly walking across the street at the time. He was struck by a tractor-trailer driver who was traveling through the area.
Paramedics, fire crews, and several other Snyder Township responders were called to the scene to help those in need. The elderly man was rushed to a local hospital with traumatic injuries but he was tragically pronounced dead while there.
The roadway was blocked in the area for several hours as police worked to clear the scene. The driver of the truck remained at the scene but it is not known if they received any charges for their role in the accident.
No further details have been released but the investigation into the accident continues.
