Shamokin Dam, PA – Airborne Car Accident at Restaurant on US-11

Shamokin Dam, PA (March 5, 2022) – Injuries were reported in a severe airborne collision that took place on a major roadway in Shamokin Dam on Friday night, March 4.

According to Snyder County officials, the accident happened at the Golden Chopsticks restaurant on US-11. A woman was driving an SUV on the highway when she lost control due to unknown reasons. Her vehicle careened into the parking lot and struck several vehicles. It then slammed into a minivan and catapulted onto the top of the business. The vehicles involved in the accident were extensively damaged and had to be towed from the scene.

Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other local responders were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. A child in the SUV did not sustain injuries but the female driver was rushed to the hospital with critical injuries. Four other people sustained injuries and were hospitalized, two of which were inside the minivan.

The roadway was blocked in several lanes of traffic for a period of time as police worked to clear the scene. The SUV was removed from the roof by 10:45 p.m.

No further details have been released but the investigation remains ongoing at this time.
