Shaler, PA (September 7, 2020) – Officials say that a female pedestrian was hit and seriously injured by a train in Shaler Township.

Police fire and EMS responded to the scene on Monday afternoon near Route 28 and Riverfront Park. The entrance to the park was blocked for several hours as a result of the accident.

Police did not say how seriously the person was injured or how it happened, but other responders who were dispatched to the scene say that they found a woman had been hit by a train and left with severe injuries. She was transported to an area medical center via ambulance in serious condition, but no word on her current state has been given.

At this time, the investigation into the collision continues, and there are no further details on the cause of the crash at this time.
