Yesterday, injuries were reported after a serious truck and motorcycle accident in East Donegal. The crash happened in the evening just before 7 p.m. Though there was no more information released, there were two vehicles involved and serious injuries involved. The roadway was closed until emergency personnel responded. Truck and motorcycle accidents are all too common in many states, which happen for a variety of reasons.

Truck Accidents Investigated

truck accidentBecause yesterday’s accident involved both trucks and motorcycles, we will talk about the accidents and injuries that result in these serious cases. Truck accidents are extremely serious because they weigh anywhere between 12,000 and 80,000 pounds, making you more susceptible to serious injuries. Because of their size, truck accidents often result in the most catastrophic injuries to those riding in passenger vehicles or on motorcycles, where drivers are offered less protection from the elements.

According to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), large truck accidents are not as common as we thought. Only 3% of truck drivers are responsible for vehicle accidents. If you have been injured in a truck accident, you could suffer losses like many medical bills, loss of income and wages, and so much more. When a truck driver acts with negligence and it leads to injuries, they have broken their standard duty of care that they owe to other drivers on the roads, as truck drivers must abide by certain standards.

Motorcycle Accidents

Motorcycle accidents can also be devastating in their own regard because there are no protective barriers between the motorcycle rider and the road. Motorcycle riding carries serious risks that many are not aware of. In fact, statistics show that motorcyclists are about 26 times more likely to die in a crash than those in passenger vehicle accidents. Motorcycle riders also face unique issues, such as wobbling accidents caused by excessive speed, road hazards that could pop up along the way, and visual recognition issues. If a driver has acted with negligence and caused a motorcycle rider to get into an accident and become injured, they may owe damages.
