Schnecksville, PA (August 12, 2022) – Around 1:30 p.m. on the afternoon of Tuesday, August 9, a teen was killed in a workplace accident in Schnecksville.

According to Pennsylvania State Police, the accident happened at 3700 Excelsior Road in North Whitehall Township. A neighbor told police that she saw crews working to cut down trees in the area for multiple days. A homeowner allegedly hired a tree company to take down trees when his clothing allegedly got caught on the machinery that he was using while working.

Several local responders, including paramedics and fire crews, were dispatched to the scene to assist the victim. The victim, identified as a 17-year-old, was critically injured in the accident. He was transported to Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest but was tragically pronounced dead while there.

The area was blocked off for an extended period of time following the accident.

Police continue their investigation into the circumstances of the accident at this time. They will update with any new information as it becomes available.
