Ruffs Dale, PA – Child Injured in Pedestrian Crash Involving Hoverboard on 6th St

Ruffs Dale, PA (May 29, 2022) – Around 7:17 p.m. on the evening of Saturday, May 28, a child was seriously injured in a pedestrian accident involving a hoverboard in Ruffs Dale.

According to Pennsylvania State Police, the accident happened at the intersection of 6th Street and Osborne Street. A 12-year-old girl was riding her hoverboard in the area with a kart attached to the back. A vehicle traveling in the area entered the intersection and struck her, knocking her to the ground. Police confirmed that the child was pinned under the vehicle.

Paramedics, fire crews, and several other responders were immediately dispatched to the scene to assist the child. She was rushed to the hospital by medical helicopter due to critical injuries. Her current condition is not yet known at this time.

The roadway was blocked at the intersection for an extended period of time. Police confirmed that the driver of the vehicle remained at the scene, though it is not known if any charges were brought.
