Rostraver, PA (August 6, 2018) On Monday evening, around 9: 40 p.m., an auto-pedestrian accident occurred on Route 51 near Smith Road. The Rostraver West Newton Emergency Services transported the male pedestrian to Rostraver Airport and flew him to a trauma center due to the severity of his critical condition. The Rostraver Police are investigating the accident to determine the cause of the accident.
Auto-pedestrian accidents almost always occur because of a driver’s negligence. Negligent behavior includes using a cell phone, eating, falling asleep at the wheel, speeding, or driving under the influence. If drivers are distracted while driving, they either don’t see a pedestrian at all or by the time they see a pedestrian they’re unable to stop their vehicle quick enough.
Pedestrians usually suffer severe, catastrophic, or fatal injuries when hit by a car. Common injuries include broken bones, head injuries, brain damage, spinal cord injuries, and internal damage. Pedestrians are so susceptible to obtaining injuries because their bodies are not armored to protect them from the impact of a vehicle. Once investigators determine why the driver did not stop in time for this pedestrian, he could file a personal injury lawsuit against the driver with the help of a personal injury attorney. If the driver, in fact, drove while distracted, then the driver will be responsible for the injured victim’s medical expenses.
