Ridley Park, PA – Officer Injured in Two-Vehicle Crash on W Chester Pke

Ridley Park, PA (May 15, 2023) – Around 1:30 a.m. on the morning of Sunday, May 14, an officer was injured in a car accident in Ridley Park.

According to Ridley Township officials, the accident happened at 200 West Chester Pike around the Woodlyn/Crum Lynne section. An officer was working in the area and started to respond to backup during a call concerning theft at the local Acme Market. He was traveling at regular speeds in a department SUV headed eastbound when an oncoming driver in a second SUV made a left turn at the Stargate Diner parking lot. This caused the two vehicles to collide with one another, causing the second SUV to roll over.

Several Ridley Park responders, including paramedics and fire crews, were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. Both drivers involved in the accident sustained injuries. The driver of the second SUV sustained facial and head injuries, while the officer suffered from hand and arm injuries. Both parties were hospitalized but are expected to recover.

The roadway was blocked in the area for some time as police cleared the scene and had both vehicles removed by tow trucks.
