Pleasant Hills, PA (August 3, 2022) – On Wednesday evening, August 3, a man was killed in a fatal motorcycle crash in Pleasant Hills.
According to Allegheny County officials, the accident happened at 100 PA-51 around the area of the local Sheetz store. A motorcyclist was traveling in the area when they started to enter the intersection and were suddenly struck by a passenger vehicle. There was so much force from the accident that it deployed the airbags in the passenger vehicle, which sustained severe damage.
Emergency responders, including Allegheny County fire crews and EMS crews, were called to the scene to help those in need. The motorcyclist, who has since been identified as 60-year-old Michele Biancaniello, was pronounced dead about five minutes after the accident happened. Nobody else sustained harm in the accident.
Due to the severity of the crash, a large portion of the roadway was blocked for an extended period of time. Police worked to clear the scene as quickly as possible so traffic could return to normal.
No further details have been released but the investigation into the collision continues.
We offer our warmest sympathies to the family of the deceased victim at this time.
Pennsylvania is known for having a large percentage of motorcycle accidents every year, some of which are minor and others that are severe in nature. Motorcycle accidents are known for being incredibly catastrophic due to the fact that these riders have no protection from harm in the event of an accident. In just 2020 alone in Pennsylvania, it was reported that 3,398 motorcycle accidents took place, with many of these accidents leading to injuries or fatalities. If you have sustained the immense loss of a loved one in a motorcycle accident, you should be prepared to seek legal help.
