Pittsburgh, PA – Nick Theofilis Killed in Fatal Ambulance Crash at Fifth Ave & Morewood Ave

Pittsburgh, PA (November 29, 2022) – A man was killed in a fatal ambulance accident that happened at an intersection in Pittsburgh on the night of Sunday, November 27.

According to local officials, the accident happened around 11 p.m. at the intersection of 5th Avenue and Morewood Avenue. Police confirmed that a Penn Hills ambulance and a passenger vehicle became involved in a collision due to reasons that are not entirely known. The involved vehicles were badly damaged as a result of the crash.

Several local responders were called to the scene to help those in need. A full-time EMT in the ambulance, who has since been identified as 23-year-old Nick Theofilis, was rushed to the hospital in cardiac arrest. He was tragically pronounced dead while there. One other person inside the ambulance, as well as the driver of the passenger vehicle, were both hospitalized with injuries but are expected to be okay.

A large portion of the roadway was blocked at the intersection for some time after the accident happened. This led to delays in the area until police cleared the scene.

The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues. Police will update with more information as it becomes available.

We offer our warmest condolences to the family and friends of the victim whose life was taken prematurely in this accident. We also hope that the injured parties receive a full recovery.
