Pittsburgh, PA – Life Lost in Fatal Pedestrian Accident on Pkwy E

Pittsburgh, PA (December 5, 2022) – One person lost their life in a fatal pedestrian accident in Pittsburgh on the night of Sunday, December 4.

According to Pennsylvania State Police, the accident happened around 10 p.m. on Parkway East around the area of the Squirrel Hill Tunnel. Police confirmed that a pedestrian was walking alongside the highway when they were suddenly struck by a passenger vehicle in the area. The driver of the vehicle remained on scene to cooperate with police.

Several responders, including Pittsburgh paramedics and fire crews, were called to the scene to help those in need. The unidentified pedestrian was tragically pronounced dead at the scene due to traumatic injuries. It is not believed that anybody else was hurt in the accident.

The roadway was blocked in several lanes for over an hour until police cleared the scene. They did not say if the driver who struck the pedestrian will be facing any charges.

The investigation into the circumstances leading up to the accident continues at this time. Police will update with any new information that becomes available.
