Pittsburgh, PA – Construction Worker Injured in Accident at Bank on Washington Pl
Pittsburgh, PA (April 12, 2023) – Around 8:30 a.m. on the morning of Wednesday, April 12, a construction worker was injured in a workplace accident in Pittsburgh.
According to local officials, the accident happened at the First National Bank building on Washington Place. Police confirmed that a male worker was working for Century Steel inside the building when he suddenly fell from the 26th floor all the way down to the 24th floor. Police did not yet comment on what caused the construction worker to fall.
Several Pittsburgh responders, including paramedics and fire crews, were immediately dispatched to the scene to help. When paramedics arrived, they found that the worker was lowered below ground on a crane. He was conscious and alert but sustained a leg fracture, stomach injuries, and shoulder and elbow injuries. He was rushed to UPMC Mercy Hospital and is expected to make a recovery.
The area was blocked off for an extended period of time after the accident.
No further details have been released at this time. Police and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration are working on their investigation.
