Philadelphia, PA – Woman and Child Killed in Pedestrian Crash at 17th St & Haines St

Philadelphia, PA (November 11, 2021) – At 3:30 p.m. on the afternoon of Wednesday, November 9, a woman and child were killed in a pedestrian crash in Philadelphia.

According to police, the accident happened at the intersection of 17th Street and Haines Street. A 33-year-old woman and a 7-year-old boy were walking in the area of the intersection. The driver of a 2005 Mercury suddenly drifted onto the sidewalk in the area, striking both of the pedestrians. It is believed that the driver lost control after a medical emergency.

Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were called to the scene to help the victims. Both of the pedestrians were severely injured and rushed to the hospital. They were both pronounced deceased a short time later.

No charges have been filed against the driver of the vehicle. The roadway was blocked in the area of the intersection for some time.

No further details have been released but the investigation remains ongoing.
