Philadelphia, PA (May 8, 2023) – Two officers sustained injuries following an accident that took place at an intersection in Philadelphia on the evening of Sunday, May 7.
According to Philadelphia Police, the crash occurred around 7:00 p.m. at the intersection of North 18th Street and West Berk Street. Police confirmed that a police cruiser was traveling in the area when it was involved in a collision with a second vehicle and then sent into a nearby home. The vehicles involved were badly damaged, and a gaping hole was left in the side of the affected house.
Paramedics, fire crews, and several other responders were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The officers, who have not yet been identified, were injured as a result of the collision. They were hospitalized, but their current conditions are not yet known.
The roadway was blocked in the area of the intersection until police cleared the scene. This led to delays for some time.
