Philadelphia, PA – Two Injured in Car Accident Involving Stolen Vehicle on 54th St

Philadelphia, PA (July 17, 2023) – Two people sustained injuries in a car accident that involved a stolen vehicle on a roadway in Philadelphia on Sunday night, July 16.

According to Philadelphia Police, the accident happened around 11:30 p.m. on 54th Street around the area of Kingsessing Avenue. Police confirmed that one person was driving a stolen vehicle in the area when they lost control due to speeding, causing them to slam into the porch of a nearby home. The vehicle was left with extensive damage due to the collision.

Several Philadelphia responders, including paramedics and fire crews, were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The driver of the vehicle got out and fled the scene on foot, leaving behind several injured parties in the vehicle. One of the victims was identified as an 11-year-old boy, who was immediately hospitalized. A woman was also injured and had to be extricated from the vehicle before she was hospitalized.

The roadway was blocked in the area of the accident for some time before police were able to fully clear the scene. Police did not say if any arrests were made in relation to the accident.
