Philadelphia, PA (November 20, 2021) – Two people died, including a child, and several others sustained critical injuries following a three-car wreck early Saturday morning, November 20.

The accident occurred on Roosevelt Boulevard in Philadelphia’s Olney section, closing a portion of the roadway indefinitely.

Officials said the wreck happened near Adams Avenue and Whitaker Avenue around 12:15 a.m.

Initial reports indicate that a vehicle carrying five people hit a pole near Adams and the outer lanes of Roosevelt Boulevard. The car then went airborne, striking several other poles. Finally, the vehicle hit an overhead steel sign that was roughly 15 feet in the air. Shortly thereafter, the vehicle hit two other cars that were traveling southbound on Whitaker Avenue.

Only the drivers were traveling in those cars, and they both received minor injuries.

Inside the first car, two people, including a pre-teen child, were pronounced dead by medics at the scene. The three other people traveling in the vehicle were all taken to area medical centers in extremely critical condition.

No further details have been released. The investigation into the circumstances of the collision continues.
