Philadelphia, PA (July 29, 2023) – A teen was killed in a fatal bicycle accident involving a hit-and-run driver in Philadelphia on Friday morning, July 28.
According to Philadelphia officials, the accident happened around 4:35 a.m. at 3300 Woodhaven Road around the area of Byberry Road. Police confirmed that a teenager was riding his bicycle in the area when he was suddenly struck by a Dodge vehicle. The driver of the vehicle immediately fled the scene of the collision.
Several responders, including Philadelphia paramedics and fire crews, were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The bicyclist, identified as a 16-year-old male, was rushed to a nearby hospital with traumatic injuries. He was tragically pronounced dead while there.
Police found a Dodge emblem and a plastic piece left behind from the vehicle that struck the teen. They did not say if they have found the responsible driver at this time.
The investigation into the circumstances of the accident remains ongoing.
