Philadelphia, PA – Several Injured in SEPTA Bus Accident on Unruh Ave

Philadelphia, PA (April 27, 2023) – At 1:30 a.m. on Thursday morning, April 27, several people were injured in a bus accident in Philadelphia.

According to Philadelphia Police, the accident happened at the intersection of Unruh Avenue and Rising Sun Avenue. Police confirmed that a driver was in a stolen Hyundai traveling at high speeds. The driver crashed into a minivan, causing the van to strike a SEPTA bus in the area. The vehicles were badly damaged as a result of the collision. The driver of the Hyundai got out of the vehicle and into a Volkswagen after the crash, fleeing the scene.

Paramedics, fire crews, and several other responders were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The driver of the minivan had to be extricated from the vehicle and was taken to the hospital for treatment. The driver of the SEPTA bus was also hospitalized with head and facial injuries. Their conditions are not yet known.

Due to the severity of the accident, the roadway was blocked for an extended period of time. This led to delays until the scene was cleared.

The investigation into the circumstances of the collision continues.
