Philadelphia, PA – Serious Pedestrian Accident with Injuries on 3rd St

Philadelphia, PA (August 25, 2020) – Philadelphia Police confirmed that a woman was seriously harmed in a pedestrian accident in Philadelphia on Sunday.

According to police, the accident took place around midnight in the northbound lanes of 3rd Street around the area of Packer Avenue. The accident happened while an illegal street race was taking place.

Police were able to confirm that two Dodge Chargers were racing side by side. A white Charger lost control, causing the driver to swerve into a crowd of people and two parked vehicles in the area.

A 45-year-old woman was in the crowd of people watching the race when she was struck by the vehicle. She was transported to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania by paramedics. She has been listed in critical condition and is expected to have her leg amputated as she recovers.

Police claim that the driver and at least one other passenger got out of the white Charger and fled the scene on foot. The other Charger fled the scene and never returned.

Police have not yet confirmed if they caught the driver responsible for the accident. Their investigation is currently ongoing.
