Philadelphia, PA – Pedestrian Accident Involving Two Vehicles at N Broad St & Erie Ave

Philadelphia, PA (June 19, 2023) – Several people sustained injuries in a pedestrian accident involving a bus stop that took place in North Philadelphia on Sunday night, June 18.

According to Philadelphia Police, the accident happened at the intersection of North Broad Street and Erie Avenue around 11:30 p.m. Police confirmed that two vehicles initially collided at the intersection due to one of the vehicles running a red light. This caused one of the vehicles to careen into a nearby bus stop, where it struck two pedestrians who were waiting for a bus.

One of the pedestrians at the SEPTA bus stop was pinned down due to the collision. Several responders, including firefighters and paramedics, were immediately dispatched to the scene. The pedestrian who was pinned down at the scene was seriously injured and taken to the hospital in critical condition. The other pedestrian sustained minor injuries. The drivers of both passenger vehicles, as well as four passengers, were also hurt but are expected to be okay.

Due to the severity of the collision, a portion of the intersection was blocked for some time. Police worked to clear the scene so traffic could resume as normal.

The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues at this time. Police will update with new information as it becomes available.
