Philadelphia, PA – One Killed in Fatal Bicycle Accident on Lancaster Ave
Philadelphia, PA (November 19, 2021) – At 8 p.m. on Monday night, November 15, one person was killed in a fatal bicycle accident in Philadelphia.
According to police, the accident happened at 4600 Lancaster Avenue. A 44-year-old woman was driving in the area when she suddenly lost control of her sedan for reasons that are not yet known. Her vehicle collided with a 63-year-old man on a bicycle in the area. The woman then continued onward, where her vehicle struck a utility pole.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were immediately dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The bicyclist was rushed to the hospital with traumatic injuries but he was pronounced dead while there.
The driver of the sedan was taken to the hospital with a head injury. She was then taken into police custody.
The roadway was blocked in the area for an extended period of time.
