
Philadelphia, PA (June 16, 2023) – An officer sustained injuries in a pedestrian accident that took place in Philadelphia on the afternoon of Wednesday, June 14.
According to Philadelphia Police, the accident happened at 2 p.m. at 1400 Samson Street. Police confirmed that an officer was running in the area and attempting to apprehend a male suspect with narcotics when he was struck by a passenger vehicle. The driver of the vehicle allegedly remained at the scene of the crash.
Paramedics, fire crews, and several other responders were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The officer, who has not yet been formally identified, sustained injuries to his head and back in the accident. He was taken to Jefferson University Hospital for treatment of his injuries. He has since been placed in stable condition.
The roadway was blocked in the area for some time after the accident. Officials arrested the male who was being chased at the time.
